FINALLY: APC Clears Nwoye For Anambra Gov Poll

The All Progressives Congress has cleared the winner of the August 26, 2017 Anambra State APC primary, Tony Nwoye, as the party’s standard bearer  in the state governorship election.
This was sequel to the dismissal of an appeal filed by one of the aspirants, Senator Andy Uba.
It was gathered that the decision to uphold the results of the primary which Nwoye won, was taken at a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee, held at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, on Monday.

The Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC considered the report of the Dr. Hassan Lawal-led appeal panel which investigated a petition filed by Uba who alleged that irregularities marred the conduct of the primary.
However, in the final report submitted by the Chairman of the Anambra APC Governorship Primary Committee, Governor Kashim Shettima, the committee said the integrity of the exercise was not in dispute.
An NWC member who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity said, “We looked at the petition and considered the report of our Appeal Committee and decided to uphold the outcome of the primary. It is as simple as that.”
Nwoye, who was earlier scheduled to address a press conference, cancelled it at the last minute.
This, according to one of his aides, is to enable him to fill the necessary Independent National Electoral Commission’s nomination forms and submit same before the 6pm deadline.
