The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has directed six commercial banks to unfreeze accounts operated by former first lady, Patience Jonathan.
The committee chaired by Uzoma Nkem-Abonta (Abia-PDP), gave the directive on Tuesday in Abuja at a hearing on a petition by Mrs. Jonathan.

The Federal Government and former President Goodluck Jonathan have disagreed on the planned military operation in the South-South and the South-West codenamed Operation Crocodile Smile.
Jonathan, who spoke on Tuesday, believed it was an anomaly for soldiers to be deployed for internal security, a responsibility that is meant for the police, saying the deployment of troops internally was to intimidate the citizens.

Anambra Gov: Ubah heads for court, lambasts Wike, others

The Chairman of Capital Oil, Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah, has said only the court will determine the authentic candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.
Ubah, at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, insisted that Mr. Oseloka Obaze did not emerge through a transparent, free and fair primary.

The Anambra Police Command says it has taken steps to enforce the ban on all activities of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in the state.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Garba Umar, said this while addressing newsmen in Awka on Tuesday.

The All Progressives Congress has cleared the winner of the August 26, 2017 Anambra State APC primary, Tony Nwoye, as the party’s standard bearer  in the state governorship election.
This was sequel to the dismissal of an appeal filed by one of the aspirants, Senator Andy Uba.
It was gathered that the decision to uphold the results of the primary which Nwoye won, was taken at a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee, held at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, on Monday.

ASUU said it was suspending the strike till end of October for government to fulfill its pledges.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has discovered an uncompleted eight-storey building in a prime area of Abuja allegedly belonging to Patience Jonathan, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The building, which has been described by the EFCC as a ‘magnificent architectural edifice,’ has not yet been valued by the commission.
However, comparative analysis of similar buildings on several trading sites such as OLX.com and Jiji.ng, within the same area put the worth of the building at N6bn.

Niger Republic warns Nigeria Of Flood, 10,000 displaced in Kogi


The Niger Basin Authority, with headquarters in Niamey, Niger Republic, on Tuesday, warned of imminent flooding in Nigeria.
The NBA is a regional body of nine-member countries in the West and Central Africa, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and Chad.
The agency said any progressive increase of water levels could have significant impacts on people and property in flood prone areas in the country.

Five Delegates to Niger Delta Summit Die in Auto Crash



Five delegates to the second national council meeting of the Niger Delta holding in Igbokoda, in the Igbokoda Local Government Area of Ondo State, were killed in an auto accident on Tuesday.
The accident occurred on Ore-Okitipupa Expressway, at Ode Aye town, in the Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The delegates, whose identities were not known as of press time, were travelling from Akure, the state capital, to Igbokoda for the summit, which Vice President Yemi Osibajo was to preside over.

THE police in Germany have arrested five people for allegedly smuggling Nigerian men into the country through arranged marriages.
A statement by the German police said 400 police officers raided 41 apartments and rooms suspected to be linked to the gang in Berlin and other German cities.
