There was panic yesterday at Okposi in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State following the discovery of an object suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
The police evacuated the object for analysis and assured the public of their safety.
Police spokesman Jude Madu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), confirmed the incident.
He said a resident, Okoro Chikaodi, discovered the object while fishing in a stream and raised the alarm.
The spokesman said the command’s Anti-Bomb Squad evacuated the suspected bomb for analysis.
He said: “Yes, an object suspected to be bomb was discovered by Okoro Chikaodiri from Okposi in Ohaozara Local Government Area when he went to the stream.
