Insult On Igbo Elders: Kalu Gets Strong Warning From Ohanaeze Ndigbo..

The Ohanaeze Youth Council describes Kalu’s assertion that the Igbo people are better traders than politicians as unbecoming of a two-term governor
– The president of Ohanaeze Youth Council, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, calls on Kalu to immediately apologise to Ndigbo for insulting the great Igbo nation
– Isiguzoro warns that if Kalu refuses to apologise or fails to retract the statement, the youth council will ensure that the former governor loses relevance in Igbo land
The Ohanaeze Youth Council has rebuked former Abia state governor, Orji Kalu for his assertion that the Igbo people are better traders than politicians.
The Ohanaeze Youth Council has given an ultimatum to former Abia state governor, Orji Kalu to apologise for his assertion that the Igbo people are better traders than politicians or face severe actions.
Kalu had in a recent interview with the Interview Magazine on Monday, October 31, said that the Igbo were not as good in politics as they were in trading.
“The Igbo have no discipline in terms of politics. They are very good traders; they’re good in anything they do, but they don’t understand politics,” Kalu was quoted to have said.
But in reaction, the president, Ohanaeze Youth Council, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, described Kalu’s statement as unbecoming of a two-term governor who was seen as an Igbo leader, the Punch reports.
Isiguzoro called on Kalu to immediately apologise to Ndigbo for insulting the great Igbo nation or be rendered irrelevant in Igbo land.
“During the First Republic, Igbo people like Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Michael Okpara and others were at the forefront of the independence movement. In the Second Republic, Igbo people like Dr. Alex Ekwueme were also at the forefront of national politics.
“It was when people like Kalu came to power that the Igbo began to lose ground, because he (Kalu) and his likes introduced traders’ mentality into the politics played by the Igbo at the national level,” Isiguzoro said.
He said described the statement as ridiculing Ndigbo, noting that such comments was not expected from somebody who was a two-term governor.
“Was Nnamdi Azikiwe a trader? Was Michael Okpara a trader? What of Odumegwu Ojukwu, Mbonu Ojike, Jaja Nwachukwu? Were they traders?,” Isiguzoro queried.
He said Kalu had an opportunity to become a national political leader, like the All Progressives Congress national leader, Chief Bola Tinubu, but wasted it.
“When Tinubu was controlling only one state, Kalu was controlling two states. How did he (Kalu) lose the two states? It’s because of his poor management skills.  Ohanaeze youths don’t want to insult him because he is an elder, but he should apologise to Ndigbo.”
Isiguzoro warned that if Kalu refuses to apologise or fails to retract the statement, the youth council will put him in the dustbin of history and ensure that the former governor loses relevance in Igboland.
Meanwhile, the minister of foreign affairs Geofrey Onyeama has given his advice to all agitators for a Biafran state.
Onyeama who spoke over the weekend in Enugu state said all groups agitating for the independence of Biafra must adhere to the constitution and the diplomatic rules in achieving the demand.
He urged the group to desist from disorderliness and disruptive agitation as a means of justifying their emotion.
